About Hood College

Hood College is a co-educational liberal arts college located in Frederick, which is a city in the west-central area of the US state of Maryland, serving as the county seat of Frederick County, having a population of more than 59 600 inhabitants, estimated during the 2009 census, which makes it the third-largest incorporated area in the state, behind Baltimore and Rockville.

Hood College was established in 1893, as the Woman's College of Frederick, by the Potomac Synod of the Reformed Church of the United States. It currently has an enrollment of about 1050 graduate students and over 1400 undergraduates, and offers 28 undergraduate majors, 14 master's degree programs and six certification programs, including certification programs in education.

Athletics

Hood's athletic teams are known as the Blazers, and they compete in NCAA Division III, for 19 varsity teams.
